During an interview with Elon Musk on X (formerly known as Twitter) Donald Trump made an outlandish comment when he said that Kamala Harris’ cover for Time Magazine resembled his wife, Melania Trump. Speaking to the 53-year-old Tesla CEO, the former president stated, “Actually, she looked very much like our great first lady, Melania,” he said, adding that she didn’t look very much like herself. (He pronounced her name “Camilla.”) “But of course she’s a beautiful woman so we’ll leave it at that, right?”
Harris’ team responded.
In response to Trump’s comments, Harris’ campaign spokesperson Joseph Costello spoke with The Hollywood Reporter, calling out his campaign “which was on full display for those unlucky enough to listen in tonight during whatever that was on X.com,” he said. “Trump’s entire campaign is in service of people like Elon Musk and himself – self-obsessed rich guys who sell out the middle class and who cannot run a livestream in the year 2024.”
Others also responded to the comment.
People across social media also responded to Trump’s bizarre comment. “Is he crazy or what. Doesn’t look nothing like Melania,” one person wrote.
“That is the weirdest thing a husband could say,” another person commented. “But, according to him, they’re both beautiful so what does it matter? Freakin weirdo!”
Along with calling her beautiful, Trump also criticized his opponent.
Of course Trump wasted no time criticizing his presidential candidate opponent in the same breath that he called her beautiful. During the interview, he went on to claim that she is “far worse” than US Senator Bernie Sanders. “She’s a radical left lunatic,” he said at one point.
Listeners pointed out that he spoke with a lisp.
Trump’s odd comment wasn’t the only thing that caught listener’s ears. Apparently, many believed that he appeared to be speaking with a lisp. “Who gave President Trump the lisp microphone?” one user on X wrote, while another person commented, “It sounds like he had his dentures out during the interview 😂.”
