Former Pennsylvania volunteer fire chief Corey Comperatore has been identified as the man killed by a sniper during an attempted assassination of former President Donald Trump.’
The tragic incident occurred at a PA Trump Rally where Comperatore, 50, lost his life while trying to protect his daughter. The shooter, Thomas Matthew Crooks, wounded the former president and injured two others before being killed by law enforcement.
Dawn Comperatore Schafer, Corey’s sister, shared the heartbreaking news on Facebook, stating, “The PA Trump Rally claimed the life of my brother, Corey Comperatore. The hatred for one man took the life of the one man we loved the most.”
She described her brother as a hero who died shielding his daughter. “Hatred has no limits, and love has no bounds. Pray for my sister-in-law, nieces, my mother, sister, me, and his nieces and nephews as this feels like a terrible nightmare but we know it is our painful reality.”
Corey’s wife and daughter also shared their experiences from that day. His daughter, Allyson, wrote, “He shielded my body from the bullet that came at us. He loved his family. He truly loved us enough to take a real bullet for us,” describing her father as “a real-life superhero.”
His wife, Helen, expressed her grief, saying, “Yesterday, what turned out to be such an exciting day for my husband especially, turned into a nightmare for our family. What my precious girls had to witness is unforgivable. What I had to was. He died the hero he always was.”
Corey Comperatore’s bravery and love for his family will be remembered by those who knew and loved him. His tragic death highlights the senselessness of violence and the boundless nature of a father’s love.
